FORD – Alan Steele, 79, died Friday, December 8, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living in Dodge City.

He was born January 10, 1944 in Dodge City the son of Dale and Helen (Wilcoxen) Steele.  He was a graduate of Ford High School and received his Bachelor's in Science from Kansas State University.  He was a lifetime Ford County resident and farmer.  Alan loved his family and friends.  He enjoyed history of all sorts and loved talking about politics.  After college he took his family to live in Tribune to work with his brothers, then moving back to Ford County to his farm for the entirety of his life.  He enjoyed riding all sorts of ATV's, and also snowmobiled for years in Colorado with family.  Alan had acquired his helicopter license, and loved reading on all the new technology. Alan was a gun enthusiast to put it mildly and had a vast amount of knowledge of guns. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Ford County and Wichita.  For many years him and his wife would enjoy traveling to see Gaither Concerts of Gospel music.  Sporting events of his kids, grandkids and great grandkids were always a top priority.  Alan was very proud of his farm and loved to hear of all the newest innovations.  Also enjoyed traveling and took many wonderful trips with his family and friends. His endless knowledge and stories of our family history passed down from his father and grandfather will be irreplaceable.  In the last few years he appreciated the healthcare personnel and his family that helped him stay home and was very thankful for them.  He loved his home dearly, and will be greatly missed.

He was also a member of the Ford Community Church, Ford Lions Club and a former board member of the Dodge City and Ford Co-op's.

On February 21, 1964 he married Linda Schoonover at the Community Church in Ford.  She preceded him in death on December 11, 2019.
