SPEARVILLE – Carol Jean Hernandez, 73, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at her home in Spearville.

She was born July 26, 1942 at Spearville, the daughter of Raymond and Fern (Kimes) Schmehr. A lifetime Spearville resident, she had owned and operated Carols' Clip & Curl until her retirement.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville.

On August 14, 1993 she married David A. Hernandez at Spearville.

Survivors include: her husband, David; 3 sons, Chuck McKinney, New York City, New York, Barton Schawe, Omaha, Nebraska and Samuel Hernandez, Dodge City; 2 daughters, Cheri Humphries, Boulder City, Nevada and Joni Doubenmier, Henderson, Nevada; 3 brothers, Bill Schmehr, Aurora, Colorado, George Schmehr, San Diego, California and Dwight Schmehr, North Carolina; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Schmehr and 2 sisters, Mary Ann Simmons and Betty Joan Fleming.

Parish vigil will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Spearville. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the church with Fr. John Forkuoh presiding. Cremation will follow the Mass. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in St. John Cemetery, Spearville.
