MULLINVILLE – Darrel R. Carson, 87, died Monday, March 25, 2024 at St. Catherine's of Dodge City.

He was born August 26, 1936 at Wellsford, Kansas, the son of Floyd and Mary (Spurgeon) Carson.  He was a graduate of Mullinville High School and attended Dodge City Community College and Pratt Community College.  He worked for several area farmers as well as Equity Exchange in Mullinville and as a rural mail carrier.  He officiated high school sports for 37 years and was an avid gardener and fisherman.

On January 29, 1972 he married Dorothy Knapp at Mullinville.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy, Mullinville; 4 children, Nickie Daniels and husband Bill, Wichita, Cathy Hogan and husband Stewart, Mullinville, TJ Fisher and husband Mike, Bucklin and Darrel Wayne Hull and companion, Shelly, Rapid City, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; 3 brothers, John Carson and wife Cindy, Greensburg, Jack Carson and wife Lona, Mullinville and Gary Carson and wife Molly, Hutchinson; a sister, Susan Staats and husband Roger, Manhattan, Kansas; and a brother-in-law, Mike Durkee, Owasso, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Vickie Green and a sister, Carol Ann Durkee.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
