Squires
Apr 18, 1947 — Jun 29, 2022
TEMPLE, TEXAS - Donna Kay Squires, 75, of Temple, Texas, has joined her loving Creator on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her home in Temple. She was born April 18, 1947 to Eugene "Bud" and Myrtice Dawkins in Dodge City, Kansas and raised in Bucklin, Kansas. She married Roger Squires on December 19, 1965, and is survived by him.
Also, surviving are her two sons, Mike Squires (Pam) of Sioux Falls, SD, and David Squires (Carolyn) of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Daniel Squires and Samuel Squires.
Donna's mother and father, preceded her in death.
Donna grew up in Bucklin, Kansas where she met Roger, her husband of 56 years. After his enlistment in the Navy, they married and she accompanied him to a number of duty assignments across the country. After Roger's discharge, the couple moved to Wichita, KS where they had their two children, Mike and David. Roger's career then took them to Oklahoma where Donna earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Northeastern State University. Later, they moved to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri where Donna ran the family business. She and Roger made their final home in Texas.
Donna dedicated herself to her family and provided great support to them throughout the years. She instilled the love of reading, gathering information and an overall curiosity about the world to her sons. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she made it a very special time with beautifully wrapped presents and Christmas stockings that were works of art. Her talents were many and she crafted many beautiful works of clay, these are things the family will hold dear. She had a powerful interest in genealogy and would often include cemetery visits on her many travels with Roger. Her greatest joy in later years was traveling with Roger across the country in their RV.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Bucklin Cemetery with Kevin Salzman officiating. Visitation with the family present will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin. The casket will remain closed.
