WICHITA – Dorcas M. Foncannon, 97, died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home in Wichita.

She was born July 29, 1918 in Logan County, Kansas, the daughter of Maurice E. and Emma Bell (Helsel) Chance. She was a graduate of Haviland High School and worked as a Nurses Aide at Hill Top House in Bucklin and the Greensburg Hospital, retiring in 1990. She moved to Wichita from Greensburg in 1993.

She was a member of Vineyard Church in Wichita and enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles.

On March 5, 1938 she married William Stephen Foncannon at Copeland, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1991.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sonia Henry, Wichita; her son, Nick Foncannon and companion, Yvonne, Kinsley; a daughter-in-law, Jerilyn Foncannon, Texas; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Stephen DeWayne Foncannon in 2011, 2 brothers, Carl and Lawrence Chance, 2 sisters, Lela Johnson and Naomi Higgins, a granddaughter, Debbie Foncannon and a great grandson, Brent Kilbourn.

Graveside services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Highland Cemetery, Ashland, with Rev. Rick Jones officiating. There will be no public viewing, the casket will remain closed.
