SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Doreen Rhea Martinez, 82, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at the Hospice House of Reno County.

She was born April 21, 1938 in Kiowa County, Kansas, the daughter of Clifford Cecil and Juanita N. (Fling) Coates.  She was a graduate of Mullinville High School and served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956 to 1959 attaining the rank Lance Corporal.  She was a longtime Kiowa County resident moving to Reno County in 1962.

On March 16, 1963 she married Luis Martinez, Jr. at Reno County.  He preceded her in death on November 22, 1992.

Survivors include: 2 brothers, Melvin Coates and wife Mary, Wellington and Irvin Coates and wife Anne, Leonard, Oklahoma; her sister, Beverly Hunt, Ellinwood; and 3 grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Darwin.

Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, with Rev. Mark Fillmore officiating.  There will be no public viewing.
