GREENSBURG, KANSAS - Gary D. Helwig, 71, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Hill Top House, Bucklin.
He was born July 3, 1945 at Ransom, Kansas, the son of Emanuel and Elma (Eichman) Helwig. A Greensburg resident for the past 2 years, moving from Great Bend, he was the owner and operator of JSK Transportation in Washington State.
He was a member of the Greensburg Mennonite Church.
On May 22, 1964 he married Judy Theobald at Greensburg.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy, Greensburg; his daughter, Sandy Helwig-Belford and husband Kelly, Charlotte, North Carolina; his mother, Elma Helwig, Greensburg; a brother, Loren Helwig, Athens, Georgia; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emanuel and his brother, Orland Helwig.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Greensburg Mennonite Church with Jeff Blackburn officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Gary Helwig Memorial Fund in care of Minnis Mortuary, P.O. Box 516, Bucklin, Kansas 67834.
