MINNEOLA, KANSAS – Helen Swearengin, 77, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Fowler Residential Care, Fowler, Kansas.

She was born July 3, 1944 in Delta, Colorado the daughter of Walter and Lorene (Emmons) Fry.  She was an amazing caregiver with the State of Colorado for people with special needs for many years, where she touched many lives. She was a Minneola resident for the past year, moving from Delta, Colorado.

She enjoyed crafts, gardening, sewing and loved her kids and grandkids.

In July of 1993 she married Kenneth Swearengin at Delta, Colorado.  He preceded her in death on April 7, 2021.

Survivors include: her 6 children, Dawn Denison and husband Wes, Azle, Texas, Marie Bencomo and husband Luis, Fowler, Shannon Wilcox and wife Debbie, Salida, Colorado, Kimberly Bendel and husband Paul, Roy, Washington, Patricia Smith and husband Doug, Afton, Wyoming and Jody Jones and wife B.J., Neosho, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her best friend and only sister, Ethel Murdock, a grandson, Jeff Wilcox, and a great grandson, Eli Smith

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Friends Church in Fowler with Pastor Dennis McDowell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fowler Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola.
