MINNEOLA, KANSAS – Joetta Riley, 93, died Monday, March 17, 2025 at Minneola Long Term Care.

She was born January 19, 1932 at Mayfield, Kentucky, the daughter of James Edward and Mollie Rena (Wallis) West.  On October 3, 1948 she married Terrell Riley at Penny, Kentucky.  They moved to southwest Kansas from Mayfield and lived a few months in Fowler, Kansas before moving to Minneola in 1958.  She was the head cook for Minneola USD 219 as well as a part time cook at Minneola Long Term Care.

She was a member of the Dodge City Church of Christ.  She was a volunteer for Hospice of the Prairie and enjoyed family, gardening and baking.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Randy Riley and wife Tammy, Dodge City, Kansas, Darrell Riley and wife Sherri, Hutchinson, Kansas and Jerry Riley and wife Mary, Lebo, Kansas; 2 daughters, Elaine Riley, Minneola and Vickie Meade and husband Charlie, Dodge City; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Gaila Riley, her husband, Terrell on June 13, 1998, 2 great grandsons, Brandon Shelton and Troy Manis, 5 brothers, James, Edward, Dwight, Connie and Tony "AB" West and a sister, Ovaleen Duke.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the Dodge City Church of Christ with Gary Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow in Appleton Township Cemetery, Minneola.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to service time Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Dodge City Special Olympics or Hospice of the Prairie both in care of Minnis Mortuary, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
