HAVILAND – Peggy Lee Huffman, 79, joined her Savoir, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Grand Plains Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Pratt surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born February 27, 1943 at Hardtner, Kansas, the daughter of Orval, Sr. and Dora (Rea) Shelite.  She was a graduate of Hardtner High School.  She worked as the manager at Zeke's in Bucklin, as a dietician at the Bucklin Hospital, Kingsdown Co-op and the Presto in Dodge City until retiring in 2007. She was a member of the Ford County Extension.  She enjoyed canning, gardening and relaxed by sewing.

On June 3, 1961 she married Cecil Huffman.  He preceded her in death on July 27, 2005.

Survivors include: her son, Zane Huffman and fiancé, Carrie Jordan, Greensburg; her daughter, Ronna Lewis and husband Kevin, Haviland; a sister, LaVonne Freeman and husband Dick, Durant, Oklahoma; her companion of many years, Joe Jacobs, Dodge City; 5 grandchildren, Karrah Huffman, Kahl Huffman, Melinda White, Kyle Lewis and Kirby Lewis; and 8 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Cody Lewis and 3 brothers. Orval, Jr., Rea and Don Shelite.

A gathering of family and friends will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Peggy Huffman Memorial Fund in care of Minnis Mortuary, 1901 N. 14 ^th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
