FORT DODGE – Robert Lee Towry, 68, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Kansas Soldier's Home, Fort Dodge, Kansas.

He was born on July 2, 1952 the son of David Monroe and Virgie Edith (Redd) Towry. He served in the United States Army for 20 years enlisting in 1969, he was only 17 years old at the time. He loved to shoot guns, go hunting, watch all forms of auto racing, and attend the local dirt tracks. On Fridays you were sure to find him with a 5 o'clock beer in his hand while listening to his heavy metal music. When he wasn't busy helping others, he enjoyed spending time with family.

On October 3, 1973 in Bossier City, Louisiana he married Debbie Cochran. They later divorced. She preceded him in death in 2015.

Survivors include: his son, Jason Towry and wife Misti, Ford, Kansas; his daughter, Angela Barnes and husband J.D., Savannah, Georgia; 2 brothers, Billy Jack Waggoner, Dyersburg Tennessee and William Waggoner, Oklahoma; and 4 Grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, Dale, Howard, Bobbie Gene, Tommy Joe, Fred, John, and Jim Waggoner, and 1 sister, Louise Waggoner.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Dodge, with Jeff Heirs officiating. There will be full Military Honors by the American Legion District 8 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.
