BUCKLIN – Royce Hugh Chapman, 88 died Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Minneola District Hospital, Minneola.

He was born on April 13, 1936 at Utica, Kansas the son of Fred Referd and Ruth (Sweitzer) Chapman. He moved to Bucklin in 1966 from Healy, Kansas. He was a member of the American Legion Post #269, Oddfellows and a volunteer firefighter and EMT all in Bucklin. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Dodge City. He served in the United States Army from 1956 – 1966.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, pheasant hunting, gardening, carpentry and really anything that involved working with his hands. He loved his animals, especially his dogs. One thing he never thought he would love doing was square dancing, Barbara had made him learn it and he really enjoyed going.

On August 16, 1958 he married Barbara Jene Havner she preceded him in death on May 18, 2006.

Survivors include: his 4 sons, Cory, Kevin, Randall and Bryan all of Bucklin; a sister, Sharon Guess and husband Don, Liberty, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Jennette Foskuhl, Bucklin.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Revel Merryfield and Charlotte Martin, and one brother, Gary Chapman.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin with David Johnson officiating. Viewing will be Tuesday at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at Bucklin Cemetery, Bucklin with Military Honors from the American Legion Post #269.
