MINNEOLA- Virgil Elsey, Sr., 86, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Minneola District Hospital.

He was born April 15, 1937 in Joes, Colorado.  He moved to Minneola from Colorado in 1978.  On October 17, 1979 he married LuAnn Amy in Raton, New Mexico.  Virgil worked at Minneola Co-op delivering bulk fuel for 20 years until his retirement in 1998.  He loved to work and keep himself busy.  He loved people and animals, especially his 4 dogs.  Virgil knew no strangers; he loved visiting with people and loved joking around.

Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, LuAnn; his children, Rod Elsey and wife Pam, Sublette, Kansas, Craig Elsey and wife Tina, Minneola, Kansas; Grandchildren, Shandi Lopez and husband Joey, Daylen Elsey and wife Megan, Bo Elsey and Courtney Elsey; 5 great grandchildren; 2 half-sisters, and mother-in-law, Vada Amy, Minneola, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by, his parents; a son, Virgil (Bubba) Elsey, Jr., a daughter-in-law, Vickie Elsey, and his sister, Virdie Dillman.

Per Virgil's wishes no Memorial Service is scheduled.  A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Colorado.  There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
